Overview : Polyurethane foam is the most common type of foam used in cases. The foam is soft enough to provide flexibility for items, but also dense enough to provide cushion for even the heaviest of items. Technical : Polyurethane is open cell which means air and water can flow freely throughout the foam. The material weighs about 1.2 - 1.3 lbs per cubic foot. This is excellent foam. I bought it so I can swap 2 different rifles and use one case depending on which rifle I feel like taking to the range. The other foam that came with the case is pluck foam. I honestly like Cobra's solid foam better. It fit inside the case perfectly and with a very sharp straight blade knife as instructed you will cut your rifle's shape perfectly. I did my trace from the back side because I used a magic marker. Also I left a 2 inch border edge. This gives you plenty of room in case you need to trim some more for your desired fitment. Remember - think twice - cut once. Excellent foam Cobra, I'm really going to buy another one from you and dump the pluck foam.
